The long-overdue MeMadeMay post

I did MeMadeMay on a complete whim this year. I decided to do it maybe a handful of days before May 1st, because I had randomly developed a crush on Queen guitarist Brian May and all I could think of was “MeMadeBrianMay, it’s a pun”. I assumed I wouldn’t care enough about the pun by next year, so I had to do it, right?
The weather in Chicago in May is wildly inconsistent. My wardrobe of me-mades is limited. At the start of May, I had 3 dresses, 2 skirts, a pair of pants, a pair of shorts, 2 hats, the hideous, couch-print romper pictured above, 2 blouses (only one of which fit), and a goddamn evening gown. Over the course of May, I also made a second pair of pants, and two more tops. I also put the business end of my seam ripper completely through the webbing between my last two fingers of my right hand. I’ve got a pretty rad scar there now.
Would I do it again? Absolutely. I’ve got another pair of shorts and… most of a dress to my name at this point, though my sewing game has been a little off lately. I’ve got an ovarian cyst the size of a grapefruit that needs removing, but because health insurance in America is a dumpster fire on the best of days, that hasn’t happened yet. The waiting and scheduling and re-scheduling and re-re-scheduling is kind of ruining my ability to get things done in a timely manner, but we do what we can.
